BANGALORE: As a prelude to Children’s Day celebrations in the city, around 250 children took part in ‘Kolor Champ 2011’, a painting competition based on the theme-’One World’.Conducted by Global Art Academy, the competition was organised for children between the age group of 5 and 15. The Manpho Convention Centre at Nagavara played host to the event where 30 children were awarded prizes at the end of the competition.The paint brush became a useful tool in the hands of children who portrayed the competition’s theme in different ways.“One of the participants painted different religions coming together to portray a united world. There was another participant who used the concept of one person using products from different parts of the world,” said one of the organisers of the event.“This is the first time we are conducting this competition in Bangalore. We have been conducting painting and art related events in Chennai for the past 7 years,” said Saliil Arakkal, State Head, Karnataka, Global Art.Global Art India is part of a larger unit in Malaysia, set up with an agenda to promote the artistic and creative potential of children. The Malaysian academy also hosts an art programme for children.
