Odisha government to sell onions through ration shops
The price of onion sold through ration shops has been fixed at Rs 24 per kg.

Bhubaneshwar: With onion prices spiralling in recent weeks, the Odisha government has taken an innovative step. The Naveen Patnaik government has decided to sell onions in ration shops across the state.

The price of onion sold through ration shops has been fixed at Rs 24 per kg. The scheme can be availed by all irrespective of whether they have a ration card or not.

Odisha receives 200-250 trucks of onions from Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra every day. But due to poor yield in Maharashtra, only 100-150 trucks of onions are coming to the state.

So the prices have been on an upward swing for the last few years.
