HYDERABAD: Justice Vilas Afzalpurkar of the AP High court ordered notice in two writ petitions filed by the ECIL Employees Union questioning decisions of the management as being undemocratic illegal and unfair. In one petition, the Union questioned the action of the management in evicting them from the property of the Union office which has been in their occupation ever since it was built and earmarked for the Union’s activities. They contended that under the guise of handing over possession of the space to the majority Union, the management had forcibly evicted them. They also contended that the managements of other public sectors extended such facility to unions independent of the fact whether they were the majority Union or not. In the other petition, the Union challenged the action of the management for not extending the ‘check off’ system for making deduction of subscription from its members on the ground that it was no longer the majority Union. It was stated by the petitioner that a nominal fixed amount is deducted from the salary of the employees towards subscription fee of the petitioner-trade Union and the amount is transferred to the petitioner Union. Justice Vilas Afzalpurkar granted 4 weeks time to the management to respond to both petitions.
