Notice of the Election Commission to NDA MLAs on offices of profit issue will have no bearing on stability of the govt.

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda has dismissed any threat to his government following Election Commission (EC) issuing notice against NDA MLAs for allegedly holding offices of profit.

The EC has issued notices to four NDA MLAs, including Mr Munda, for holding offices of profit to explain their stance by May 22.

JD (U) legislator Khiru Mahato, who is chairman of Hazaribagh Mines Board, has confirmed receipt of the EC notice but legislators Sarju Rai and Karia Munda were yet to receive the notices.

Mr Munda has already received the notice.

Mr Munda said, "Everything is fine. We will give all details to the EC. There is no threat to our government".

The Election Commission on April 26 has also put on its website a list of 43 MPs, including Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, Union Ministers Pranab Mukherjee, Sharad Pawar, Meira Kumar and T Subbirami Reddy, whose disqualification has been sought for allegedly holding office of profit.

More than 200 MLAs, including several chief ministers have also been named.
