No complaints, say neighbours

Most neighbours do not seem to have been disturbed by the weekend parties at Morning Mist until Saturday.

Praveen, who lives near the home stay  recollected seeing many parties being arranged at Morning Mist. “But most seemed like family events,” he said. The parties were either wedding anniversary celebrations or bachelor parties. He said that most residents maintained a safe distance from the home stay.

However, Susheela, a neighbour said she  became suspicious after witnessing a few students acting indecently.

On Saturday, another neighbour said on condition of anonymity, a group of people had gathered 50 metres from the homestay. They seemed like activists belonging to some group. The raid was well planned, he said.

District in-charge minister C T Ravi said police had failed to trace the owner or the staff of the homestay. There were no records to prove it was a homestay. Ravi hoped that the police would probe  the activities at the homestay. “The owner of homestay, which is still a residence, is absconding after the incident,” he said.
