Nagpur: In a word of advice for budding gardeners, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari claimed that he waters his plants in his Delhi bungalow with urine.
"I collected urine in a 50 litre can. I called the gardener and instructed him to water some plants with it. There was such a big difference - it grew one and a half times bigger than the other plants," he said.
The senior Bharatiya Janata Party made the remark during while speaking at an event on sprinkle irrigation systems in Nagpur on Sunday.
BJP leaders are mulling over what prompted Gadkari to make such a remark. Although farmers have used human waste as fertilizer for centuries, cities and governments have looked down on the practice.
His remark has drawn a lot of tongue-and-cheek reactions on the social media.
