Hardly anybody used the word 'liberal' for their Congressmen.

Washington: Americans are very angry with their lawmakers and have used choice epithets to describe them.

Though their Congressmen have just passed the historical health reform bill to overhaul the nation's health care system, people are far from pleased with them, according to a survey released by the Pew Research Center on Monday.

'Dysfunctional,' 'corrupt,' 'crooks,' 'idiots,' 'lousy,' 'self-serving,' and 'inept' are some of the many nasty words used by Americans to describe members of the House of Representatives in the survey taken shortly after the House voted the historic bill Sunday.

Asked to describe in just one word their impressions of Congress, the respondents overwhelmingly used negative words, the Pew Research Center said in a statement.

"Of those offering a response, 86 percent said something negative while just 4 percent gave a positive one-word description.

"The three most frequently offered terms were dysfunctional (21 people offered this), corrupt (20) and some version of selfish (19).

Many of the words reflected perceptions that Congress has been unable or unwilling to enact legislation (inept, confusing, gridlock, etc.),'' the statement said.

'Confused,' 'incompetent,' 'lazy,' 'bad,' 'sucks,' 'poor,' 'slow,' and 'messy' were other prominent words used by the American people to describe their lawmakers.
