Myoma treatment to be painless

BANGALORE: Clumax Diagnostics will now be able to offer MRI guided HIFU treatment to women suffering from Myoma in its Bangalore centre. It announced the purchase of this machine from Philips at a press conference on Friday.Myoma is the formation of non cancerous fibroids in the uterus which occurs in one out of four women. They often cause no symptoms and thus remain undetected. Symptoms, however, can range from excessive bleeding to pelvic pressure and pain. The conventional method of treatment for such uterine fibroids has been surgical methods to remove the fibroids or in extreme cases, removal of the uterus.MRI HIFU stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging guided High Intensity Focused Ultrasound  which uses MRI to map the location of fibroids. “Patients can get the procedure done within 3 hours and resume their lives”, said Dr S Radesh.
