BANGALORE: Those who are planning to celebrate Ganesha festival and later immerse the idol in tanks, can breathe sigh of relief. The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is making sufficient arrangements at lakes this year where one can immerse the idols without any hassle.For this purpose the BBMP has created special tanks for the immersion inside the existing lake. “There were only four till last year. But from this year, the BBMP has made provisions at 26 tanks,” official said.According to a senior Palike official, the concerned zonal in charge will have to co-ordinate with the city police to make adequate illuminations and barricades at the immersion spots. “Last year the commissioner had issued guidelines for the same. As per the guidelines, a restriction of time has been laid on the immersion of Ganesha idols. They can be immersed only till 10.30 pm.There will be no fire crackers and loudspeakers at the immersion zones. This year, guidelines will be continued with small changes,” the official said.Apart from this, the BBMP in association with Karnataka State Pollution Control Board will provide more than 30 mobile tanks.“Mobile tanks has the capacity to immerse idols up to two and half feet,” added the official. The BBMP will also provide garbage containers at the entrance of the tanks areas where the people have been requested to dispose garbage which includes flowers and other waste in order to protect the lakes from pollutant.Meanwhile, the deputy mayor has warned the idol makers against the use of lead paint.
