A money lender, Satnam Singh alias Goldy, who allegedly shot dead a neighbour following dispute over repayment of loan a week ago, surrendered today.
Goldy surrendered before Senior Superintendent of Police, Amol V Homkar, who said a woman was also detained in connection with the case. A licensed double barrel gun used for killing Arun Namta along with a live cartridge, a revolver and a car were seized from the possession of Goldy, he said.
The police, after initial investigation, had sent teams to Mumbai, Delhi and Punjab in search of the accused, who gave the team the slip in the Western metropolis. Bowing under pressure from the police, Goldy returned to the steel city and surrendered, Homkar said adding the detained woman was also with the accused when he was at large.
Namta (35) was shot dead near Jemco under Telco police station here on June 21. Goldy's uncle Dalbir Singh Birre, a transporter, had been murdered by miscreants over personal enmity near Jemco in December last, Homkar said.
