New Delhi: Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) legislator Aijaz Ahmad Mir on Thursday described terrorists from Kashmir as 'martyrs' and 'our brothers'. He also added that their deaths should not be celebrated.
"Militants who are from Kashmir are martyrs, they are our brothers; some of them are minors who don't even know what they are doing," Aijaz Ahmed Mir told the press in Jammu.
"We should not celebrate the killings of militants, it is our collective failure, we feel sad when our security forces are martyred as well, we should sympathise with parents of security jawans and with parents of militants as well," added Mir.
Mir, who represents Wachi constituency, said Centre's interlocutor for Kashmir Dineshwar Sharma should talk to everyone in the state, including Hurriyat and militants.
The Congress said the government needs to make a choice about its alliance with the PDP in Jammu and Kashmir. “The BJP government must answer. PDP is their alliance partner in J&K,” said Tom Vadakkan, Congress spokesperson.
