New Delhi: BSP supremo Mayawati has promised to extend reservation on the basis of economic status if her party comes to power in Uttar Pradesh.

Addressing an election rally on Sunday, the former UP chief minister said BSP has distributed tickets to all castes, fielding 86 Brahmins and 26 Thakurs in the poll fray.

Mayawati promised reservation on the basis of economic condition if the party comes to power after the assembly elections in the state.

Coming down heavily on Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, she accused him of being responsible for the Allahabad High Court judgement declaring that Muslims are not minorities in UP.

Criticising Yadav for "crime, corruption, unemployment and anti-Muslim policies," she challenged him to "face the results of his actions".

If the BSP comes to power, she would order probe on all the "scams" that occurred during the Mulayam regime, she said.

On being asked if she could become the country’s Prime Minister some day, she told a news daily: “ Yes, I believe it will happen one day. I cannot state the exact number of years. For all you know, we may not even have to wait that long.”
