KOZHIKODE: Jnanpith winner M T Vasudevan Nair presented Mathrubhumi literary award 2010 to social critic and writer Sukumar Azhikode at a function held here on Thursday. The award comprises a cash prize of `2 lakh, certificate and a plaque.Speaking on the occasion, M T Vasudevan Nair opined that Sukumar Azhikode’s unique style of criticism, which stands different from the traditional manner, always attracted him. “Life, according to him, will be an unending quest for knowledge. The talent in Azhikode is a rare one,” he said.In reply, Sukumar Azhikode said the good words showered on him was more like a medication to him as he was not doing well. ‘Mathrubhumi’ managing director and Socialist Janata (Democratic) leader M P Veerendrakumar and managing editor P V Chandran also attended.
