Ranchi: Maoists blew up a village council building in Jharkhand's Palamau district on Tuesday, police said. The building was empty at the time.
According to police, around 10 to 15 Maoist rebels came and blew up the building on Tuesday morning in Chahapur village in the district, which is 190 km from the state capital.
After blowing up the building, Maoist shouted slogans against the security forces' operation in Lalgarh area of West Bengal.
Meanwhile, police arrested three Maoist rebels, including a woman, from a nursing home of Bokaro district. Police also arrested Ratan Lal Manjhi, the owner of the nursing home.
Tuesday was the second day of the 48-hour shutdown called by the Maoists in five states, including Jharkhand, to protest the Lalgarh operation.
The Maoist strike has affected life in rural areas of the state. Long-route buses were not plying and mining activities have also been affected in some parts of the state.
