ONGOLE: In a tragic incident, five members of a family including a one-and-half-year-old girl received severe burns, when the family head, who tried to immolate himself was being prevented by other family members.According to police, Shaik Abdul Nissar of Etamukkala village in Prakasam district is an automobile mechanic by profession. He has two wives and four children. Nissar's infant son had died of some health problems 20 days ago. Nissar has three other children from his first wife Khairum. Following the death of his son, Nissar went into a depression and became an alcoholic. He came home at around 1.30 am on Sunday night and poured kerosene in a bid to end his life. But his family members including his mother Shamshan, first wife Khairum and second wife Radha prevented him from doing so. But an adamant Nissar did not stop and even started pouring kerosene on the three women and set them afire.All of them received severe burns including Shabeen, Khairum's daughter. The condition of Radha and Shabeen are said to be critical. All of them were shifted to RIMS at Ongole and later Radha and Shabeen were moved to Guntur government hospital.According to information, Nissar married Khairum five years ago and Radha two-and-half-years back. Radha was also married earlier and lost her husband. She has two children from her first marriage. Khairum has lodged a complaint with police.
