BHUBANESWAR: Financial burden led a man to kill self and his family in Badagada BRIT colony on Tuesday. Identified as Manoj Panigrahi, a ration shop owner, he gave poison to his wife and son before consuming it himself.Panigrahi had reportedly taken huge debts for setting up his shop. He was under financial stress for quite sometime and unable to pay the money that he had borrowed. This led to tension in the family. When Manoj realised that he may no longer be able to pay off the debts, he decided to commit suicide along with his family. He allegedly gave poison to his seven-year-old son and wife, identified as Mani Panigrahi. According to sources, people in the neighbourhood, suspecting something foul entered the house and found the bodies around 11 am. Manoj and his wife died by the time the neighbours noticed the bodies and informed the police. The boy, who was still alive, was immediately rushed to a hospital. He is battling for life.
