BANGALORE: An employee of Bangalore Central mall, J P Nagar, accidentally fell from the terrace of the mall and was killed on the spot on Friday. The deceased, Devprakash Dahiya, 29, was a native of Rajasthan. He was as an executive in the Management Information System of the mall.According to the police, at 5.50 am Dahiya was talking on his phone sitting on the wall of the terrace, which is on the 7th floor of the building. Venkatesh, the security guard, found the body lying in a pool of blood. The guard informed the police, who rushed to the spot and shifted the victim to KIMS Hospital. The victim was declared brought dead. It is learnt that Dahiya was hired about three months ago. Sources said on Friday, he reached the workplace at around 4 am and had gone to the terrace to have breakfast. The police, upon investigating the terrace found his tiffin box and a cigarette. Investigations revealed that he was sitting on a parapet wall while having breakfast. Meanwhile, he received a phone call and while speaking on the phone, he lost balance and fell down. Due to severe head injuries, he died on the spot, the police said. According to the mall staff, Dahiya was aloof and did not mingle with anyone at work. He usually went out for breaks alone. The officials further added that the key to the entrance door of the terrace was only with the management. “We don’t have any idea how he managed to get the key. He might have been under depression and could have jumped from the terrace,” the staff suspected. J P Nagar police have registered a case in this connection and are investigating.
