KOCHI: Now Kochiites can weave big dreams of enjoying their evenings as the Durbar Hall would soon be elevated to international standards. "It will be modelled after the Nishagandhi Open Auditorium in Thiruvananthapuram," District Collector Sheikh Pareeth said. "There will be facilities to conduct cultural activities everyday. There will also be arrangements to screen classic films once in a week," he said.
"The arrangements will be modelled in such a way that it would not lack any sort of amenities that could deter its status to hold international exhibitions. The issue of not having a roof would also be solved. With the cooperation of film technicians, the Durbar Hall would be given a complete facelift," he said. Meticulous care would be taken to improve the sound system as well as the projection of the film which will enable the audience to sit anywhere on the ground and watch the film without any hindrance. The District Collector added that the work would be completed soon so that the screening of the first film will be done in a month. An expert team from the Kerala State Film Development Corporation will arrive next week to monitor the situation.
