KOCHI: The Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vaduthala, is taking a proactive role in addressing a major menace in society — road accidents caused due to negligence, both by motorists and pedestrians. What is alarming for the student community is that recent studies of the Road Transport Authority have found that school students as a single segment are prone to road accidents, many of them fatal.Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) A R Premkumar and former RTO Michael with their team interacted with the students of Chinmaya Vidyalaya in a bid to inculcate proper values and necessary knowledge about traffic rules at a formative stage. The video clips reflected the stark reality of the roads where negligence often maim and kill unsuspecting motorists, pedestrians and bystanders. The session also laid stress on the absolute necessity for the student community to learn the basics of rendering first-aid in such a way that it becomes a life-saving exercise — something that all citizens should know.
