BANGALORE: Reva Institute of Technology and Management inaugurated Central Library and PG classes at their Kattigenahalli campus. Dr D Purandeswari, Minister of State for HRD, Government of India, was the chief guest. In her address she appreciated the quality of education, the infrastructure and the facilities available at the library.She threw light on how the present generation is dependent on technology like internet, rather than making use of their own skills and being innovative through reading books and making a comprehensive synopsis of their studies.She suggested that the institution can get a membership with ICT. She said that the present scenario is solely dependent on technology and she said that it should never over take the human resource. In her address she appreciated the conducive atmosphere and ambiance at the institute which will help students to study better.She said that post independence, the colonial education system refined and constituted by Dr S Radhakrishnan, under University Education and he emphasised in moderating education through imbibing social ethics and morals.She said that the time has come now to redefine our education system, when earlier, we had only 20 universities, 500 institutes and only one per cent of students opting for higher studies with 15,000 teachers, we now have 600 universities, 30,000 and more institutes, 14 per cent students opting for higher education and more than 6 lakh teachers. She said that our country has a diversified culture, language and cadre.But, we have many countries in one country. Hence, we should face challenges to compare with our neighboring countries by sustaining our economical growth, which can happen if our gross enrollment of the students who opt for higher education increases to 20 per cent with clear acuity, quality and with focused exponential expansion in the field of education. She said that the government gave importance in eleventh period education, which has 19 per cent gross budgetary allocation for improvement and to impart quality education to the remotest areas of the country. She said that the changes or moderation in the field of education should educate every girl. She congratulated REVA for their focus on this issue, that today in this institute 40 per cent of the students are girls.She wished that the number would increase in the years to come.She said that we in India need to bring a radical and qualitative changes in the field of education, which the government is also looking to put an end to.She said that Indians do not have to emigrate for higher studies when policies are being made to accommodate foreign students. She also said that 20 per cent of critical mass requires to be educated, for which the government has passed 2 policies- ‘Right to Education’ and ‘Rashtriya Madyamic Education’.She said it is time to focus on the research centers. The private education sectors along with the government should go hand in hand to focus and bring awareness in the students. She said that the government is also very keen in funding such research centers than developing IT industry.She concluded by saying that youngsters are the power to the 21st century of the country. Leadership and innovative creations will make entrepreneurs out of youngsters. She urged that we should always aim at being job givers and not job seekers.She said that the ambition should have killer instincts. She said that our country is rich in all aspects like civilisation, globalisation or in cultural heritage.She said that the younger generation should carry all these with positive attitude.She wished one and all the best of luck. Sri P Shyma Raju, Chairman of Reva Group of Educational Institutions, Bangalore presided over the function.In his presidential address, he advised the students to use the facilities provided and achieve excellence. He suggested the new entrants to inculcate good values, ethics, discipline, which is most important at Reva. He wished all the best for the students and requested to use the best opportunity available on the campus.
