Lalu Yadav Case: UP Govt Orders Probe Over Reports of Jalaun DM, SDM Calling Up Judge
Refuting the allegations, Jalaun DM Mannan Akhtar said, “I never spoke to CBI Special Judge Shivpal Singh over the phone. I have been here just for four months and Lalu had come to meet us in November in connection with his land dispute in the district.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered probe over allegations that the district magistrate and sub-divisional magistrate of Jalaun called up CBI Special Judge Shivpal Singh to seek favours for RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav in the fodder scam case.

During the proceedings of the case on January 4, the CBI judge had said “Laluji, we are getting a lot of references and calls for you”, without naming the people who had called him up. Lalu was awarded three-and-a-half year jail term and a fine of Rs 5 lakh.

However, Jalaun DM, Mannan Akhtar, has refuted the allegations. “I never spoke to CBI Special Judge Shivpal Singh over the phone. I have been here (Jalaun) just for four months and he had come to meet us in November in connection with his land dispute in the district. Nothing else was discussed."

“How can someone levy such serious allegations without having any evidence? I belong to Assam and working in Uttar Pradesh. I have no connection of any kind with Laluji,” added Akhtar, a 2011 batch IAS officer who was made DM of Jalaun in September last year.

There were allegations that Akhtar and SDM Bhairpal Singh were trying to seek favour for Lalu.
