London: Lalit Modi has always been a high profile person. For him, it hardly matters that he is wanted in over a dozen criminal cases in India and all of them attract a jail term, if found guilty. Modi who fled home country India to escape from prosecution almost five years ago is leading a lavish life in London. According to a luxury lifestyle website www.luxpresso.com he is staying at an eight bedroom five storey mansion in one of the posh areas of London.
It says that he has shifted to this house in June 2011. “Staying true to his personal style, Modi's 7000 sqft 5-storey mansion comes with eight double bedrooms, seven bathrooms, two guest rooms, four reception rooms, two kitchens and a dedicated lift. The unfurnished mansion, which had been on the market for an affordable rent of £11,500 (approximately Rs 12 lakh per month) till Modi moved in, has been taken on a long lease with a provision for extensions. This will be Modi's home during his temporary stay in London”, a report said.
Rs 12 lakh per month rent was the price quoted in 2011. According to London estate agents, the current market rent in Indian currency would be around Rs.16-20 lakhs per month.
His London home is situated on 117, Sloane Street in upmarket Belgravia, a district in Westminster and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
