Potent anesthetic drug Propofol is believed to be the reason for his death.

New Delhi: King of Pop Michael Jackson's death has been shrouded in mystery. Now, the latest reports on celebrity website TMZ.com says that the Los Angeles Police department is treating it as a homicide.

According to TMZ.com, the Los Angeles Police believes the potent anesthetic drug Propofol was the reason for Jackson's death. And law enforcement sources are quoted as saying that they have "plenty of powerful evidence" which suggest that Dr Conrad Murray administered MJ the drug. The evidence includes Propofol vials, an IV stand and an oxygen tank found in Jackson's LA house.

Doctor Conrad Murray's lawyer has not confirmed or denied if his client had administered the drug to Jackson just before he collapsed.

Though the case has not been presented to the District Attorney, the Los Angeles Police Department has reportedly had several conversations with the LA County District Attorney's office.

Even though initial toxicology reports have not confirmed the King of Pop's dependency on drugs as the reason for his death, his father Joe Jackson had indicated foul play.

Reports also suggest that Jackson's dependency on painkillers dates back to 1984. The King of Pop was shooting for a Pepsi commercial way back in the 80s when a pyrotechnic mishap led to his hair getting burnt and scalp being scorched. According to TMZ, MJ got addicted to painkillers started after that.
