However, their qualification campaign for Germany was not very convincing and their fans may be in for a huge dissappointment if they expect a repeat of the 2002 tournament.

during the initial phase of their qualification campaign, Korea Republic drew goalless to Maldives and it led to the sacking of their coach Humberto Coelho and Jo Bonfrere was appointed the new coach.

But Bonfrere resigned after a lot of criticism of the team's lacklustre performances even though the team had booked the ticket to Germany 2006.

They are one of the most consistent teams from Asia on the biggest stage of world football and their first participation was in 1954.

Before the 2002 tournament, they had not managed a single win in 14 finals matches.

The players to watch out for Korea Republic at Germany are Park Ji-Sung, Lee Young-Pyo, Ahn Jung-Hwan, Cha Du-Ri, Lee Dong-Gook and Chu-Young.
