HYDERABAD: In Mahbubnagar district to push the Rytu Chaitanya Yatras on Thursday, chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy did the usual farmer-friendly things, such as pumping farmers’ hands and riding bullock carts. But part of his mind seemed to be trained on the upcoming challenge of winning 18 crucial byelections.Amid the rythu anna spiel he spewed, he also outlined his strategy to win those seats without a sweat. It might be called the Amway method of laughing all the way to the vote bank.Drawing heavily from the script of the Chiranjeevi movie Stalin, the chief minister said the Congress could pull off bypoll victories if only party workers followed a simple strategy. It goes thus: in the 30 days to go to the bypolls, each Congress election worker would have to give his all to win over one noncommitted voter to the party in three days. By polling day, each worker would thus have garnered 30 votes, and if 10 workers laboured thus in each polling booth, it would mean an accrual of 100 votes. Assuming that there are about 220 polling booths in each constituency, that would add up to a haul of 22,000 votes, giving the Congress an unbeatable edge. The each-one-teach-three strategy may have been revealed to the chief minister by film-star K Chiranjeevi, whose movie Stalin had just such a plot. In it, the Mega Star gets a revolution rolling by asking his followers to do good deeds to three others.
