BANGALORE: The city is hosting 10th international Kimberlite conference from February 6 to 12. Around 250 delegates from 30 countries are expected to participate in this conference.H K Gupta, president of Geological Society of India said, “The objective behind this conference here is to create awareness and generate interest about diamond mining. The conference is a sequel to nine conferences held in different parts of the world which is held once in 4 years”. He said India gave the world some of the most precious diamonds but unfortunately failed in tracing the source rock. All this was before the primary source of rock was formally named Kimberlite. “India was forgotten in the diamond exploration field, as it was easier to find diamonds in Africa,” said R H Mitchel, chairman, IKC Advisory Committee.
