DINDIGUL:An eight-year-old girl, who was kidnapped near Ottanchatiram on Friday, was rescued near Bengaluru after her father provided a ransom of `3 lakh. The kidnappers managed a narrow escape from the police.Rani (name changed) was kidnapped by unknown persons on Friday when she was on her way home from sch-ool. The kidnappers called Kuppusamy, her father, on his mobile phone the same night demanding a ransom of `5 lakh for the release of his daughter, threatening to kill her if he failed to pay.Kuppusamy informed Kallimanthaiam police and a special team was constituted under the deputy superintendent of police. The kidnappers, meanwhile, instructed Kuppusamy to go to Bengaluru to collect his daughter, said a senior police officer. On Saturday night, the kidnappers directed Kuppusamy to bring the money to Chandirapura on the Bengaluru-Hosur road, added the officer.After informing the police, Kuppusamy and his relative Shiva went with the money, and found the kidnappers in an omni car in a crowded area. After seeing Rani inside the car, Kuppusamy gave the kidnappers the money and they pushed her from the car, said the police.Meanwhile, following prior instructions from the police, Shiva attempted to pull one of the kidnappers from the driver’s seat of the car. However, the culprits managed to speed away, dragging Shiva for a while. Shiva sustained injuries, and the kidnappers managed to escape with the money.
