Karnataka's KP Poornachandra Tejasvi Foundation Hosts Calligraphy Workshop For Children

KP Poornachandra Tejasvi was a distinguished poet and literary figure renowned for his profound connection to the land of Karnataka and its cultural essence. His works celebrated the magnificence of the Western Ghats, vividly portrayed through his imaginative storytelling. In a fitting tribute to his legacy, the KP Poornachandra Tejasvi Foundation in Kottigehara organised a ‘Calligraphy Workshop’ for children. This event, held at the foundation, was a resounding success, thanks to the enthusiastic participation of hundreds of students and the foundation’s meticulous planning.

The workshop was specifically tailored for students from Kottigehara Government School and budding calligraphers. In an era where digital media often overshadows traditional practices, the workshop aimed to highlight the significance of classical calligraphy. Renowned calligraphy artist Suresh Datt led the session, offering a comprehensive demonstration of calligraphic techniques and skills. His expertise provided valuable insights into the art of traditional handwriting, emphasising its beauty and intricacy.

Participants had the unique opportunity to engage directly with calligraphy by writing excerpts from Poornachandra Tejasvi’s literary works. This hands-on experience allowed them to connect with the poet’s writings tangibly and artistically. The workshop also featured contributions from other esteemed calligraphers, including Suresh Vastoor, T.B. Kodihalli, G. Harikumar, Mohan Kumar, and Animesh Naganur. These experts shared their knowledge and guided the children, enhancing their understanding and proficiency in calligraphy.
