The Ernakulam Sessions Court on Thursday dismissed the bail applications of CPM Thiruvangad local committee secretary Karayi Chandrasekharan and former Kannur district secretariat member Karayi Rajan, the seventh and the eighth accused in the Thalassery Fazal murder case.
Dismissing the bail pleas, Sessions Judge A Hariprasad observed that the plea of innocence raised by Karayis prima facie derives no support considering the reports in the case diary.
The CBI submitted that the petitioners were highly influential leaders of the CPM and had evaded the law for quite a long time. The investigation is yet to identify two more accused in the case and their relationship with the conspirators would have to be clarified.
The duo masterminded the criminal conspiracy to murder Fazal on grounds of political animosity. The CBI submitted that Rajan is also an accused in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case. The court held that bail could not be granted to the accused.
