Srinagar: Protests erupted in South Kashmir's Kulgam district after a teenager who was missing since last Tuesday was found dead on Wednesday morning by residents, an official said in Kulgam.
Yawar Amin Ganaie, a class 10 student, was found dead in Raekhama village of Shopian this morning, police said. As the news reached his village in Kulgam, Ganaie's relatives and neighbours took to the streets in protest.
The protesters alleged that the boy was killed by kin of the girl with whom he had an affair, a police spokesman said. Later, the protesters marched towards the house of the girl and set a cowshed afire.
The spokesman said police swung into action and brought the situation under control.
"The body has been sent for post mortem examination and a probe has been started," he said.
