Auckland: Indian shuttlers Ajay Jayaram and Arvind Bhat moved into the men's singles third round of the New Zealand Open Grand Prix here on Thursday.

Third seed Jayaram overcame Norwegian Marius Myhre 24-22, 21-5 in 26 minutes and 13th seed Bhat eased past compatriot Kirtesh Dhindhwal 21-16, 21-12 in 23 minutes. Jayaram and Bhat will face South Korean 12th seed Ji Hoon Hong and Indonesian sixth seed Andre Kurniawan Tedjono, respectively, in the next round.

Mumbai's Pawar, seeded fifth, lost to Chinese Taipei's Chia-Hsin Wan 16-21, 14-21 in 36 minutes while veteran Chetan Anand, seeded 14th, lost to Thai Parinyawat Thongnuam 21-17, 17-21, 12-21 in 56 minutes.

Malaysia's Beryno Jiann Tze Wong upset fourth seed Gurusaidutt 21-18, 13-21, 21-19 in 57 minutes while in the women's singles, local hope Vicki Copeland beat Sarada Jasti 18-21, 21-17, 21-17 in 49 minutes.
