The district police chief had placed two cops under suspension in connection with the incident. A departmental inquiry was also initiated against the officials involved in the incident.The CPM leaders said that it was the doctors at the District Hospital in Kannur who recommended expert medical examination for the treatment of Jayarajan at the Medical College Hospital. “Even ministers have to use private vehicles or taxis when their official vehicles are not found to be safe for travel.P Jayarajan was taken back to the Kannur jail hiring a taxi,” they pointed out.
