CHENNAI: As part of restructuring the organisational set up of the party ahead of the local body elections, AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday shuffled the posts of some of the district level functionaries of the party, besides integrating four party districts.
Minister for Cooperation, Sellur K Raju, has been relieved of the post of the party's Madurai town unit secretary. A K Bose, MLA representing Madurai North Assembly constituency, will be the new secretary of the district.Virudhunagar district secretary K K Sivasamy has been relieved of his post and K T Rajendra Balaji, MLA representing Sivakasi Assembly constituency, will be the new secretary of Virudhunagar district. Sivasamy will function as the secretary of the Farmers Wing.

In view of administrative convenience, the party districts - Salem Urban East and Salem Urban West - have been merged and will be known as the Salem Urban district of the AIADMK hereafter. The party district will have the following Assembly constituencies Gangavalli (SC), Athur (SC), Yercaud (SC), Veerapandi, Omalur, Mettur, Edappadi and Sankagiri.

Similarly, the party districts - Tirunelveli town and Tirunelveli urban have been merged and will be known as Tirunelveli district hereafter. The new party distict will comprise the following Assembly constituencies Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli, Sankarankovil (SC), Vasudevanallur (SC), Kadayanallur, Tenkasi and Alankulam.
