Srinagar: After protests in the Kashmir Valley over an alleged custodial death, protests have now erupted in Jammu also.
Angry family members and residents shouted slogans against the police and staged noisy protests after the death of Kewal Krishan while he was in police custody.
Krishan, who was picked up by the police for questioning in a land dispute case, died on Friday night.
This is the second custodial death in Jammu in the last one week.
But the Jammu SSP, Mukesh Singh has clarified that while the police has suspended the guilty officers after the first incident, action is yet to be taken in the latest case.
“Two incidents have taken place in the past week. In the first incident, the magisterial enquiry is going on. We have taken action against concerned officers. They have been transferred or suspended as per the requirement. In the present case also we have started an enquiry,’ Singh said.
