HYDERABAD: With nearly two and a half years of their term left, a majority of the 26 Congress MLAs who have resigned in support of Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy appear to have developed cold feet as speaker Nadendla Manohar is likely to get round to dealing with their resignations before the commencement of the winter session of the Assembly.According to sources, the CBI’s grilling of Jagan Mohan Reddy recently has sapped their belief in the gamble they took to sail with the Kadapa MP. Some of the MLAs are said to want to make amends with the Congress party bosses. These include MLAs who had links, though distant, with mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy, whose umbilical chord with Jagan Mohan Reddy is under the CBI’s scanner. With the MLAs having second thoughts about support to Jagan, Congress is trying to put the squeeze on them to make them return to the party without cajoling. Some MLAs have reportedly conveyed to the speaker their desire their resignations be kept pending though they still affirm loyalty to Jagan. Former minister Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose said the Congress is trying to isolate Jagan but the flock is intact and that they had no reason to break away.In private, some MLAs admit that the going has been tough for them. “No officer is listening to us. No work is being cleared in our constituencies. It appears that officials at the revenue division level have been asked not to entertain any requests from us,” said one of the MLAs.Some MLAs are meeting chief minstier Kiran Kumar Reddy regularly to seek his intervention in getting work done in their constituencies. For which he is seeking his pound of flesh in the form of switching loyalty from Jagan to the Congress.
