One of the most consistent singer in the Indian pop scene Shubha Mudgal launched her new album The Awakening.

New Delhi: She had worked on the track Ghoom Taana in collaboration with Pakistani singer Salman Ahamad last year and she has just released her new album The Awakening which is just another example of the singer lending her voice to experimental form of music.

CNN-IBN correspondent Reshil Charles caught up with Mudgal, one of the most consistent singer on the Indian pop scene at the launch of The Awakening.

Reshil Charles: You are launching your new album on the occasion of World Music Day, was that planned or is it a co-incidence?

Shubha Mudgal: I am happy to say that it isn’t a clash but a harmonious meeting of the two. It was not planned but I am delighted that the launch happens to fall on the same day.

Reshil Charles: Your album The Awakening has a lot of electro form of music and has a music composition that has been done a lot of times before. How are you trying to make The Awakening different?

Shubha Mudgal: The album takes the composer’s direction and I do not decide that. I think the amount of classical music that Gaurav Issar(composer) invited in this particular album, was his decision. What I have tired to do in this album is sing songs, which were composed by him, I have given voice to his thoughts and his compositional ideas.

Reshil Charles: Should we look forward to some compositions of your own in future?

Shubha Mudgal: I certainly hope so but I am not in a hurry to do that now.

What's your reaction?
