Italian team meets DGP

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An Italian delegation led by Consul-General Giampaolo Cuttilo met DGP Jacob Punnoose here on Wednesday. They expressed concern over the facilities the  Italian marines, who were held for firing, would get in prisons. It is learnt that the DGP had objected to the stand of the delegation that since the firing took place beyond the territorial waters of India, the Kerala Police could not act against the Italian marines.  The DGP told them that as the two deceased were on a boat registered in India and the complaints were lodged in India, the Kerala Police had the legal right to act on the case.
