Joe Gareri, general manager, Sony Pictures Image works, who was also the visual effects producer for movies like Pirates of the Caribbean, Mask 2, Ring and Men in Black 2, recently inaugurated the Shasun Film Club, an initiative by the Department of Visual Communication, Shri Shankarlal Sundarbai Shasun Jain College for Women, T Nagar. The aim of the club is to help students bring out their creativity and interest in the field of media. To facilitate the same, the Department will screen  award-winning movies, documentaries and animated films on Saturdays in the college. Honorary secretary of the club,  S Abhaya Kumar Srisrimal, associate secretary Gyan Jain and principal B Poorna, graced the occasion. The Department of Visual Communication, in future, aims to provide high quality education and training to young media professionals. The Department also plans to provide training to school students to help them choose a career in media.

Kaleidoscope 12, a workshop, was also held recently by the college.

The event saw the participation of eminent media personalities like actor Narain, directors Gaurav and Agathian and  cinematographer S D Vijay Milton, who shared their views and experiences in the media. A number of students from city colleges participated in the workshop with enthusiasm.
