Bhopal: An aged tiger, who bore the injury marks on its body resulting from territorial clashes in Pench Tiger Reserve, was rescued and shifted to Sanjay Tiger Reserve in Sindhi district of Madhya Pradesh.
The big cat who ruled the wilderness of Pench for over a decade has entered into his twilight and was recently assaulted by a younger male over territorial supremacy. The injured striped cat had two injury marks, said an officer from the Forest Department.
After being banished from the core area, the feline had settled into buffer zone and faced scarcity of food. The big cat started venturing into nearby habitations in search of food and preyed on cattle that infuriated the locals. The anguished locals complained about it to forest officers following which the tiger was caught and shifted to Sanjay Tiger Reserve.
Dr Dilip Singh, Field Director of Sanjay National Park said, the big cat has been kept in an enclosure for two months and will be given medical treatment.
