India continued to make merry against Pakistan A bowlers cruising to a total of 414 for 7 before declaring the innings.

Lahore: VVS Laxman and Yuvraj Singh scored spectacular half centuries as India declared their first innings at 414 for 7 at lunch on the second day of their warm up tie against Pakistan A at the Bagh-e-Jinnah stadium on Sunday.

Resuming at their overnight score of 298 for 4, the Indian batsmen continued to make merry against Pakistan A bowlers cruising to a total of 414 for 7 at lunch before declaring the innings.

India added 116 runs in the first session losing the wicket of Mahendra Singh Dhoni while Laxman and Yuvraj Singh retired after posting their half centuries.

The duo played their shots with great confidence and timing. Laxman sparkled with his elegant driving against Yaseer Arafat and Ifetekar Rao Anjum and Yuvraj played some elegant shots down the wicket besides cutting and pulling with relish.

Laxman reached his half century when he guided a lifter from Arafat over the slips to the fence. And he retired later at 54 after having batted 153 minutes, facing 106 balls and hitting nine fours.

Yuvraj Singh raced to his half century off just 76 balls before he too retired after scoring an impressive 59. He batted for 127 minutes, faced 79 ballls and hit nine fours.

Mahendra Dhoni put the bowling to sword cracking five blazing fours in his innings of 22 that came off as many balls before becoming the first batsman to be dismissed by the bowler on Day 2.

Dhoni was particularly severe on Irshad and the bowler was mightily relieved when he holed out to the fielder at long leg.

Irfan Pathan (8) and Ajit Agarkar (4) were the not out batsmen at lunch when Indian captain Rahul Dravid declared the innings.
