Doha: India blanked out Hong Kong 7-0 in women's hockey at the Al-Rayyan Hockey Field in the XVth Asian Games in Doha on Friday.
The Indian eves got onto the score sheet in 21st minute through a penalty stroke that was converted by Surinder Kaur.
The lead was doubled six minutes later and then at the stroke of half-time, India added a third when Surinder Kaur's sounded the board for the second time.
After half-time, India pumped in four more goals with Surinder Kaur adding two more goals to her tally.
The other scorers for India were skipper Jyoti Sunita Kullu who found the rival net in the 27th and 47th minute while Jasjeet Kaur Handa helped herself to a goal in the 50th minute.
In the other match between Japan and China, the former won 3-0.
With the win against Hong Kong, India are now on the top of the group with nine points and a goal difference of +14.
China also has nine points from three matchesbut their goal difference is +12.
But Kullu was not happy with the performance despite the huge victory margin.
"The performance of the team was not very good. We missed many chances. It will be bad if we repeat this in the next game against Japan," she said.
"It was not necessary to plan a good game but we still did not play as well as we had hoped. We had a poor performance and were not very alert," she added.
The scoreline was not new for Hong Kong who had earlier lost to China (0-9) and South Korea (0-15).
