Two unidentified youths robbed a shop for lakhs of rupees after they managed to divert its sole employee Gaurang Ghosh’s attention. According to Local 18 West Bengal, this incident occurred in the grocery wholesaler Sandeep Bhagat’s shop on June 30, Sunday. His shop is located in the Sheoraphuli, Hooghly zone, West Bengal.
On June 30, Sandeep was not in the shop and his employee Gaurang was managing the business. In the afternoon, a young man entered the shop with his face covered with a mask. His accomplice was waiting outside. The man, with a mask on his face, asked Gaurang to help him with a sum of Rs 500. When the shop employee was busy taking out the cash box, the two miscreants took advantage of his distraction and managed to steal a huge sum worth lakhs of rupees.
The nearby traders are terrified of such an incident happening in a crowded market. After this mishappening, the businessman contacted the police personnel. After examining the CCTV footage, the police personnel of Serampore police station have started an investigation.
Gaurang said that he was still not able to get over the robbery because such an incident had never happened in the Sheoraphuli market before. According to him, both robbers didn’t even have a motorbike to make a timely escape after the theft. The shop owner Sandeep has also expressed similar concerns and hoped that the police will help them recover money as soon as possible. The grocery wholesaler pointed out the loopholes on the part of the administration saying that they perform no strict vigilance of the market. He requested the police personnel to take some security measures to protect the shopkeepers.
Besides this incident, a couple of days ago, two robbers robbed a gold shop in Chanditala, Hooghly, and stole jewellery. According to the reports, on June 29 evening, two youths entered a jewellery shop located in the Bartajpur area in Chanditala. They pretended to buy silver ornaments. While one of the two thieves was pretending to see the ornaments, the other one was waiting near the door. The one who was checking on the ornaments reportedly asked the shopkeeper to bring out several pieces of jewellery as he wanted to look at those for buying.
Suddenly, the duo picked up a few ornaments and fled.
