New Delhi: CNN-IBN’s Citizen Journalist campaign has yet again created an impact.
After CJ Manoj Kumar sent pictures and videos of the nightmare that he and 120 other passengers of GoAir airline underwent, authorities have decided to take appropriate action.
As many as 120 passengers of a GoAir flight were stranded at the Bangalore airport for at least 18 hours without food and water when the flight – that supposed to leave Bangalore airport at 2130 hours IST on Thursday – left on Friday after 1500 hours IST.
Passengers alleged that the flight stood on the tarmac for hours and airline officials didn’t help them or explained what was happening. They alleged that the entire crew walked out of the plane after a few minutes.
After watching the report, Managing Director of GoAir, Jeh Wadia has now offered to compensate passengers.
I am very sympathetic towards the passengers, there is no excuse and we are fully accountable for it. We are making sure that such incidents don’t happen. You would appreciate that bad weather starts at night and carries on through the night. The other option we had was to cancel the flight when it reached Bangalore at 4 am which the passengers did not want. After a certain time, the food and water in the aircraft got over and we could not replenish the stock as everything in Bangalore was closed. We are looking at a compensation package,” said Wadia.
