The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heat in Delhi on Sunday, with the maximum temperature expected to touch around 44 degrees Celsius.
The weather department had earlier forecasted that the national capital is likely to encounter heatwave conditions throughout the day on Sunday.

The weather forecast predicted a mainly clear sky accompanied by strong surface winds.
At 9 am, the Air Quality Index (AQI) of the national capital was measured in the “poor” category, registering a reading of 246, as reported by the Central Pollution Control Board.
An AQI between zero and 50 is considered “good”, 51 and 100 “satisfactory”, 101 and 200 “moderate”, 201 and 300 “poor”, 301 and 400 “very poor”, and 401 and 500 “severe”.
