Islamabad: Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar on Tuesday expressed hope that the positive trends seen in Indo-Pak relations in 2011 would continue this year to boost the agenda of development and prosperity in the region.

Khar made the remarks when Indian High Commissioner Sharat Sabharwal paid a courtesy call on her.

She said "2011 had been a positive year for Pakistan-India bilateral relations".

She expressed the hope that "this trend would continue in the next year to the mutual benefit of the two countries, as well as towards promoting the agenda of development and prosperity in the region", said a statement issued by the Foreign Office.

Indian officials said the meeting, which was pre-scheduled, gave the envoy and the minister an opportunity to review recent developments in bilateral relations and meeting that will be held in coming months.

Khar recalled her meeting with her Indian counterpart SM Krishna in the Maldives on the sidelines of the SAARC Summit in November, where both sides had reviewed the progress made in the dialogue process that was resumed last year.

Sabharwal expressed appreciation for Khar's "efforts and commitment to the dialogue process", the Foreign Office statement said.
