The Hyderabad traffic police signed an MoU with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Bharath Electronics Ltd (BEL) for installation of 220 signals at the cost of Rs 63.6 crore.Hyderabad police commissioner Anurag Sharma said the BEL won the tender in February and funds were sanctioned by the government in July.Additional commissioner of police (Traffic) C V Anand said, “Signaling service at 221 junctions (180 existing + 41 new) will be set up in a span of 12 months in a phased manner. Surveillance cameras will be installed at each junctions. A Traffic Command Center (TCC) will also be set up to synchronise signals across the city,’’ Anand added.
