Hi, I'm Sachin Tendulkar's shoulder
When I am overused the thick tissue which makes up my labrum can be injured and this causes alot of pain in the shoulder.

New Delhi: Hi! I am Sachin Tendulkar's shoulder. I am a ball and socket joint but am extremely shallow and so unstable. The bones inside me are not held in place adequately and thus they need extra support.

To compensate for the shallowness, I have a cartilage within me called a labrum that forms a cup. This helps the arm bone to move within me.

The labrum circles my socket and makes it deeper, more stable and allows me to make wide sweeping strokes and weild the willow gracefully.

However, when I am overused, as is the case in a lot of matches where I have helped Tendulkar score a ton or two, the thick tissue which makes up my labrum can be injured.

A single traumatic event is also enough to injure my labrum.

Some stressful matches where I have played a long and tiring role as Sachin went on a run-scoring spree, have resulted in the tearing of my labrum.

Now, this leads to an aching sensation and catching of movement whenever Tendulkar tries to move his arm.

The tear causes great pain and a sense of instability -- almost like a loss of equilibrium.

Tendulkar needs to go in for an MRI with contrast to figure out where the tear within me has occurred.

He will also need to bring me under the surgeon's scalpel so that I can be operated upon as the symptoms are persistent and cannot be cured with conservative treatments.

I will need appropriate tensioning of the ligaments so that I can heal completely and come back to win some more cricketing laurels for India.

What's your reaction?
