VISAKHAPATNAM: Heavy rain is expected at some places in the state in the next 48 hours due to the formation of an upper cyclonic circulation from Chhattisgarh to Madhya Pradesh via Vidarbha and a sea-level trough in Telangana region, south Tamil Nadu and south coastal Andhra Pradesh, said a senior scientist at the Cyclone Warning Centre at Visakhapatnam.Though heavy rain has been lashing several parts of Telangana and Rayalaseema for the last two days, six Telangana districts are still awaiting downpour since the onset of monsoon.Adilabad, Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Mahaboobnagar, Nalgonda and Ranga Reddy districts have minus 20 percent deficient rainfall. Chittoor is the only district in the state that has recorded excess rainfall this season to the tune of plus 20 percent.“Normally, July and August are the peak months for rainfall. But the corresponding months last year received excess rainfall compared to this year. The cumulative rainfall will be better as several parts of AP have been receiving heavy rain since last two days,” the scientist said. According to meteorological statistics, minus 20 pc against normal rainfall is negative normal and plus 20 pc against normal rainfall is positive normal.
