CHENNAI: The Administrative Committee, headed by Chief Justice MY Eqbal, which convened an emergency meeting on Wednesday evening in the wake of a bomb blast near the High Court in Delhi, has resolved to take urgent steps to strengthen the security to the High Court.The meeting resolved to strictly regulate the entry of outsiders and their vehicles. Only those persons and their vehicles with a valid authorisation issued by the advocates concerned regarding the purpose of their visit to the court concerned would be allowed inside the High Court compound.It was also resolved that no person, except advocates and parties in litigation, who were appearing in person, would be allowed entry inside the court halls during or after the court proceedings. The meeting also unanimously resolved that the security arrangements would be taken care of by the local police and their views would also be taken into consideration while implementing the security measures.The meeting was attended by Justices Elipe Dharma Rao, D Murugesan, C Nagappan and other judges. Madras High Court Advocates Association president G Mohanakrishnan, Madras Bar Association’s Alagirisamy and various other bar associations office-bearers participated in the meeting and made their suggestions.Following the judicial orders of the first bench of the High Court led by former Chief Justice AP Shah, about 254 policemen were deployed on the High Court premises. However, after the clash between police and advocates on May 21, 2009, the presence of police was cut down.Today, after the bomb blasts, more policemen were posted at the five entry points and they frisked the visitors and checked all vehicles. They, however, did not insist on ID cards.Meanwhile, all the Bar Associations in a releases condemned the blasts in Delhi.
