HC rejects Sampangis petition

BANGALORE: The HC on Thursday rejected the plea filed by BJP Kolar Gold Fields, MLA Y Sampangi seeking to change the Judge hearing the bribery case filed against him after he was caught by Lokayukta Police in January 2009 at the Legislator’s Home while allegedly accepting Rs 5 lakh bribe from Farooq, a businessman, to settle a civil dispute.Sampangi had contended that his case be transferred to another court as the Judge N K Sudhindra Rao and complainant Hussain M Farooq hail from Kolar. Justice B V Pinto who heard the matter set aside the petition with an observation that the apprehension of the petitioner of not getting justice is baseless and the petitioner has no grounds in seeking transfer of case.
